The 📝Emotional Release Glossary collects the terms used when 📝Emotional Release appears in a Somatic Realignment Therapy session note, defined in plain language for clients; the process is experiential, and none of it is psychotherapy or a treatment.
Glossary

- 📝Bracing — the muscular tension that has been holding something back.
C
- 📝Catharsis — a large emotional discharge; never the goal and never forced.
- 📝Completion — an interrupted body response, such as a push, a tremble, or a long exhale, finishing on its own.
- 📝Consent Check — the practitioner asking before continuing when emotion surfaces.
- 📝Containment — the ability to feel something without being flooded by it.
D
- 📝Discharge — trembling, heat, tears, laughter, or a long exhale as activation leaves the body.

- 📝Flooding — more feeling than the system can process at once, the signal to slow down or stop.
G
- 📝Grounding — returning attention to the feet, the seat, and the room to settle.
H
- 📝Holding Pattern — muscular tension that has been carrying an emotion, often for years.
I
- 📝Interpretation — explaining what a release means; the practitioner stays out of it.
O
- 📝Orienting — looking around the room to re-establish safety after intensity.
P
- 📝Pacing — keeping the process inside what the client can stay present with, often with simpler 📝Breathwork.
- 📝Pause — the option, always available, to stop.
R
- 📝Referral — the honest move when material belongs in mental-health care rather than on the table.
- 📝Reorienting — the time taken before leaving the table after emotion has moved.
S
- 📝Somatic Memory — the body carrying the imprint of an experience without a clear story attached.
- 📝Stay With It — the cue to keep feeling a sensation rather than analyze it, the same tracking used in 📝Somatic Practice.
T
- 📝Titration — meeting intensity in small, tolerable doses.
W
- 📝Window of Tolerance — the range in which feeling stays workable, neither overwhelming nor numb.
