The Queue is a venture concept for a global marketplace, like a Task Rabbit or Thumbtack for 📝Specialized Digital Micro Tasks, that structures recurring information-processing work into branded tasks performed by specialists.
The concept rests on the observation that, by definition, the edge of every automation requires a human. Information producing and processing apps proliferate, and every company has to get data out of those apps and integrate it with other data. At every company there are people responsible to execute a checklist of information processing steps to produce a deliverable on a defined schedule.
The Queue structures that work into branded micro tasks that can be sold to a class of people across companies who do the same thing, for example because they use the same software packages. The first 📝Queues were built to make up the work of people in 📝Traditional accounting titles. Such work can be delegated to specialists making their way up a task, QA, manager, and creator hierarchy of skills, giving a marketplace of emerging talent significant opportunities to learn new skills. The vision is a global community of people developing a process to continuously level each other up, and it ties to John's framing of 📝Big Vision.
The initial focus was the roughly 5 million users of QuickBooks Online, each of whom spends considerable time 📝Accepting Transactions in Quickbooks Online; the single-service brand for that work is 📝Weekly Accounting. A second line, 📝The Forecast, grew from reviewing the financials and forecasts of thousands of consumer brands at 📝Assembled Brands, which showed that many of those users also need help understanding the metrics of their business. At the time of writing, one person was closing the books weekly for 23 companies and updating the 📝Integrated Financial Model (IFM)s of the same companies.
The Queue is a place to get shit done. Weekly bookkeeping is easy to sell because companies are already paying for it and they don't have a lot of love for their current bookkeeper.
