Mythos

Accepting transactions in QuickBooks Online is the 📝Bookkeeping task of reviewing each bank and credit card transaction that 📝Quickbooks Online downloads to its Banking screen and recording it to the correct account.

Each day, QuickBooks Online connects to a company's bank and credit card websites and downloads the deposits, payments and charges that hit each account that day, a feed described in 📝Transaction Downloads. Someone then reads the roughly 25 characters of bank text attached to each transaction and decides how to record it against the 📝Chart of Accounts.

The task is an item on the 📝Weekly Bookkeeping Checklist and part of 📝Weekly Accounting Practices. 📝Quickbooks Rules automate part of the work by matching phrases in the bank text; transactions that no rule catches still need manual review. As of 2026, Intuit places this screen under Transactions > Bank transactions, and its tab and button labels have changed since the screenshot below was captured.
