@KarmaLab is 📝Reddit's in-house creative strategy agency, led by Global Director 📝Will Cady. KarmaLab coaches advertisers on how to speak like Redditors — offering social listening, community management, creative workshops, campaign development, and dedicated consulting for brands navigating Reddit's 100,000+ 📝subreddits. Notable partners include Samsung (which used r/explainlikeimfive to explain 5G), Snickers, and EveryPlate.

KarmaLab is also the clearest embodiment of the contradiction at the heart of Reddit's business model. Reddit tells its communities to be authentic and rejects self-promotion — while simultaneously running an in-house agency that teaches brands to sound authentic, regardless of whether those brands participate in or contribute to the culture. The service exists because Reddit's ad revenue hit $690 million in Q4 2025 (75% YoY growth) and the platform needs advertisers to succeed. But the gap between sounding like a Redditor and being one is precisely where most enterprise campaigns underperform.

As Cady put it: "Our mission is to help every brand discover how to contribute authentically, meaningfully, and effectively to the communities that matter most to them." The question 📝Reddit for Real asks is whether a brand can contribute authentically through a coaching service — or whether 📝Authentic Contribution requires the brand itself to show up.

KarmaLab does real work and some of it is genuinely good for communities. But the structural tension is undeniable: Reddit charges brands for ads, then charges them again to learn how to not sound like ads. The brands I've seen win on Reddit didn't need KarmaLab — they had people on their teams who already understood the culture. The ones who needed the most coaching were usually the ones whose campaigns felt coached.
