Reddit for Real is a #podcast co-hosted by @Brian Swichkow and @Rob Allam (GallowBoob) focused on #reddit-for-enterprise and Reddit for business. The show draws on their combined decades of experience advising everyone from solo founders to Fortune 500 companies on how to bring brands to @Reddit and leverage the platform for commercial purposes—despite its baseline cultural rules against self-promotion. The central tension the podcast explores is Reddit's contradictory relationship between profitability and culture. Reddit's revenue is overwhelmingly driven by @Reddit Advertising, yet its community guidelines emphasize authenticity and discourage self-promotion—a contradiction Reddit itself embodies through services like Karma Lab that coach advertisers to speak like Redditors, regardless of whether those brands are authentically present in or contributing to the culture. Brian and Rob have spent years helping companies understand Reddit's culture, and have observed that while many enterprises shy away from showing up authentically, those that do have seen significant returns.
Format
Each episode, both hosts bring 2–3 topics to discuss and share them live with each other for organic conversation. Episodes are recorded on a regular cadence. The surprise element is intentional—it mirrors how Brian and Rob actually talk and keeps things from feeling scripted.
