Mythos

Hidden Topics are 📝Topics that never appear on your public subscribe page — they behave like any other newsletter channel, but you keep them off the open menu and surface them yourself. They exist for segmentation you don't want to advertise: a VIP channel, an internal cohort, or a context-specific list that should appear only in the right place. They're for any newsletter-enabled creator who needs a topic to route memos quietly to the people on it.

Key Capabilities

  • Off the public menu — a hidden topic is excluded from your public subscribe picker
  • Context-aware reveal — a tagged hidden topic appears only when someone subscribes from a memo carrying one of its tags
  • Owner-only mode — a hidden topic with no tags is visible to you alone
  • Same routing as any topic — memos with a matching tag still reach the topic's subscribers
  • One toggle — flip Hidden on a topic in your settings; nothing else about it changes

Getting Started

Hidden Topics are part of the 📝Oracle-tier newsletter.

  1. Open Settings → Newsletter and find the Newsletter Topics section
  2. Add or edit a topic and map it to the hashtags you want it to carry
  3. Toggle Hidden so the topic drops off your public subscribe page
  4. Leave it tagged for context-aware reveal from matching memos, or untagged to keep it owner-only

FAQ

  • Who can subscribe to a hidden topic? No one through your open subscribe page. A tagged hidden topic is offered only when someone subscribes from a memo carrying one of its tags; an untagged hidden topic is yours alone.
  • Do hidden topics still send memos? Yes — distribution works exactly like a visible topic; only discoverability changes.
  • How is hiding different from just not linking a topic? Hiding is enforced server-side — the topic is filtered out of the public picker, not left to you to avoid sharing it.
  • Can I unhide a topic later? Yes — toggle Hidden off and it rejoins your public subscribe page.
