Accountant Access is the 📝Quickbooks Online invitation type for accounting firms, which gives an outside accountant access to a company's books without taking up one of the company's user licenses.
An accounting firm accepts the invitation through QuickBooks Online Accountant, which lets the firm's team work in the company file together and connect more powerful tools, such as those used to build an 📝Integrated Financial Model (IFM). The invitation is sent from the gear menu under Manage users, on the Accounting firms tab, to the email address the firm provides. As of 2026 Intuit labels the gear menu "Settings" and the Invite button is no longer green, but the Manage users > Accounting firms path is the same.
Step 1: To provide your accountant with Accountant Access, click on the sprocket in the top right and click on the menu item for Manage Users as shown below.
**Step 2: **Where you would normally add a User, notes that there is another tab for "Accounting Firms". Click on that tab and click the big green Invite button. Please invite the email address your accountant provides.
