Hey Legend,
This past week has been a whirlwind. Hours after declaring myself an artist, I was inspired to make my first art. I created a 30-second screen recording of my dating profile and purchased Reddit advertising to promote it to women in LA.
Here's what it looked like in their feeds...

So far, in just six days, the ad has been seen by 71k people, prompted 121 comments, generated 10 dates (9 offered, 1 accepted), and prompted 3 podcast interviews. Thanks to 📝Matt Yanofsky and 📝The Moment Lab, it's getting serious interest from VICE, Newsweek, and Rolling Stone.
That's not too shabby for $76.81 in advertising spend. And, just now, the ad was shared with the CEO of Hinge (the dating app used in my screen share) who might be keen to further fund that budget.
The momentum of this 📝Meticulously Ridiculous art-ing doesn't seem to be slowing down. The post, now named 📝Stoned and Single, has been mapped into 📝Mythos One and—as a result of linking one of my 📝memos in the comments—we exceeded our API calls. 📝Champagne Problems, eh?
As 📝Ali said of her 📝Outrageous Infomercial, it's "art that sells itself."
Unlike my 📝Facebook Ads Prank in 2014—a story about targeting my roommate—those that were being targeted were could become part of the story. Since the comments were unlocked, it created an opportunity for me to engage those being targeted in real time. My objectives here were simple, show up with 📝Authentic Vulnerability and add value to the experience.
This morning, on a call with 📝Robert Allam—the top influencer on Reddit, who himself drives over 10M impressions per day—said "holy hell man, how did you get that many upvotes on an ad?!"
Here are threads where self-promotion was uncharacteristically welcomed.

My head has been spinning with all of the threads the conversation has illuminated or strengthened. I've just received my refill of stickies and am continuing to build out the storyboard for future art-ing...

Many of you are already characters in this wild experiment of 📝Nonlinear Storytelling because of the energy and resonance you've graciously shared. I am grateful for you. I can't possibly thank you enough, but I'll certainly try.
📝Build cool shit and change the world.
