BYOK lets you connect your own AI provider key to 📝Chat & RAG instead of drawing on MythOS's shared platform credits — the same agent, running on your own account and your own billing relationship with the provider. It exists so power users aren't capped by shared usage, and so the cost of your AI collaboration is transparent and yours to control. It's for anyone who already has a provider account, or wants direct control over model choice and spend.
Key Capabilities

- Per-provider keys — connect, test, and remove a key for each provider independently
- Default provider and model — set which provider and model your agent uses by default
- Platform credits as an alternative — skip BYOK entirely and draw on MythOS's own key rotation instead
- Encrypted storage — keys are encrypted at rest, never exposed in plain text after saving
Getting Started
- Go to Settings → AI
- Choose BYOK or MythOS Credits as your billing mode
- If BYOK, paste your provider's API key and test it
- Set your default provider and model

- Do I need my own key to use chat? No — MythOS platform credits work out of the box; BYOK is optional.
- Which providers are supported? OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, Mistral, MiniMax, and Moonshot AI.
- Is BYOK gated to a paid plan? No — both BYOK and platform-credit chat are available to every account.
- Does BYOK cover semantic search too? No — semantic search and RAG embeddings currently resolve through OpenAI only, using your OpenAI key if you've set one.
