Syracuse University is a private research university in Syracuse, New York, founded in 1870. It enrolled about 22,600 undergraduate and graduate students as of 2024 across 13 schools and colleges. These include the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and the College of Law.
The Methodist Episcopal Church founded Syracuse, and the university has been nonsectarian since 1920. It grew from a small Methodist college into a comprehensive research university, classified as R1 for very high research activity, with national reputations in public affairs and communications. The College of Engineering and Computer Science, founded in 1901, offers more than 30 programs across departments that include electrical engineering and computer science. Syracuse competes in NCAA Division I athletics as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
After graduating from 📝Clarkson University, I moved a few hours south to Syracuse. As part of 📝General Electric's Edison Engineering Program, I studied electrical and computer engineering there, with an emphasis on digital signal processing, and earned my master's.
