Tipsy Tours is an annual, city-wide immersive experience prompting locals—with costumes and alcohol as facilitators—to explore their city with fresh eyes. For one day, participants portray the stereotype of their favorite—or most detested—tourist while running towards activities previously "beneath" the attention of a local.

Genesis
Tipsy Tours was born from the sheepish admission of a Tinder date who—despite having lived in Los Angeles for three years—had never done the "touristy stuff" and felt like she was missing out. I suggested costumes with corresponding characters to offset the "but I'm a local" guilt and it took.
Later, when later telling friends about the conversation, I was hard-pressed to find those that didn't respond with "that's amazing, I'm in!" and thus 'Tipsy Tours' was born. The first year was a logistical mess, but we managed to get 17 characters on a sightseeing bus and hopped from Marina del Rey to Hollywood. The day culminated in my fake bodyguard walking in front of my fake wife down Hollywood Blvd. saying "No pictures! No pictures! Please, she's just trying to walk!" as the rest of the group trailed behind laughing at the actual tourists trying to see which celebrity she was.
