Hey Legend,

Yesterday, I made space to experience the Welcome Guide that arrived as a part of my 📝Holstee Membership; a subscription service offering "inspiration and tools to help you live mindfully." The first exercise was 'Begin with the End' or—as the stoics would say—📝Memento Mori; a Latin phrase meaning "remember (that) you will die" and a practice of reflecting on mortality.

"📝Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've encountered to help me make the big choices in life." ~ Steve Jobs

The guide pointed to author and columnist 📝David Brooks who distinguishes between what he calls: 📝Résumé Virtues and 📝Eulogy Virtues.

Résumés virtues are those that make your résumé.

Eulogy virtues are those that make your memory.

Résumé virtues are driven by 📝Extrinsic Motivators.

Eulogy virtues stem from 📝Intrinsic Motivators.

**Résumé virtues are the promise of your value.

Eulogy virtues are the fulfillment of your values.**

As 📝Brooks' TED Talk suggests, we must 📝Earn Our Eulogy.

"When you appeared in this world, you cried, and all the people around you rejoiced. You have to 📝Live Your Life in such a way that when you leave this world, you will rejoice, and all the people around you will cry."

Yesterday's page in 📝A Calendar of Wisdom also reflected on 📝death,

📝When I die, only one of two things can happen: either this essence which I understand as myself will transform into a different being, or I will stop being a separate individual and become part of God. Either possibility is good." ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero
📝Leo Tolstoy added, "You should live your life so that you are not afraid of death and at the same time do not wish to die."

Feeling the gravity of the guide's prompt to choose my five eulogy virtues, I found a 📝List of Virtues and wrote down those of deepest 📝resonance.

Mine are: 📝authenticity, 📝creativity, 📝cooperation, 📝love, and 📝unity.

My explorations also manifested Mike Sturm's reflections of Brook's book and the wisdom that—to build and maintain the kind of character that fulfills eulogy virtues—we must focus on the small moments. Sturm offers,

"If there's any trick to having more of those small, impactful moments, it would probably be this: be open and be present."

If you feel drawn to be more present, experience the book 📝Be Here Now.

What are your eulogy virtues? Where can mine support yours? Let's collaborate on big, creative ideas that 📝Elevate The Human Frequency.

📝Build cool shit and change the world.
