Objective
Derail Sexism, or #derailsexism, is a campaign started by Dame Products who are suing the MTA—NYC's transit authority that rejected their campaign citing vague and sexist reasons—to call attention to the rampant sexism in advertising; wherein platforms like Facebook, Instagram, etc. allow ads for erectile disfunction and condoms, but not for birth control or vibrators.
Alexandra Fine, co-founder and CEO of Dame Products, wrote about the 'fight for fairness in advertising' on their blog; the lawsuit has since been covered by the NY Times, CNN, and VICE.
In Citizens of One we are also co-creating an Artful Advocacy project (announced soon) and co-creating a proposed set of policy changes to prompt updates to these systems of governance.
