Privacy & Consent in 📝MythOS is the 📝Accounts, Auth & Security page deciding whether analytics and marketing tools run for you at all — two independent toggles, plus a way to bring the consent banner back.
Consent is usually collected once and then quietly assumed forever; here it is stored with the region it was given in, honored across visits, and re-openable whenever you change your mind.
It is for anyone who wants tracking off, and for creators who need to know what the platform does on their readers' behalf.
Key Capabilities
- Two independent toggles — usage analytics and third-party marketing are consented to separately.
- Region-aware asking — the banner appears where consent is legally required, and asks when your region is unknown.
- Accept, reject, or customize — the banner offers all three, not an accept button alone.
- Reset consent — reopen the banner and choose again at any point.
- Region-stamped storage — a choice made outside a regulated region is discarded if you later appear inside one.
Getting Started
- Go to Settings → Privacy.
- Under Tracking & Consent, switch Usage analytics (Google Tag Manager) on or off.
- Switch Third-party marketing and personalization tools on or off, independently of the first.
- Choose Reset consent (show banner again) if you would rather decide from the banner.
FAQ
- Why have I never seen a consent banner? Outside regulated regions consent is implied, and the Privacy page says so explicitly. The toggles still work.
- Which regions are asked? The EU states plus the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Brazil, and California — and anywhere the region cannot be determined, which fails safe by asking.
- How long does a choice last? Thirteen months in your browser, after which you are asked again.
- Does rejecting analytics limit any feature? No. Consent governs tracking only; nothing in MythOS is gated behind it.
- Is this the same as memo visibility? No. Consent is about tracking your own session; who can read a given memo is set per memo.
