Visibility in 📝MythOS is the per-memo access setting inside 📝Memo Collaboration that decides who can open a memo and where it shows up: public, unlisted, hidden, or private. It exists because one library holds everything from published essays to private working notes, and each memo needs its own line between the two without a second workspace. It is for every creator on every plan; the picker sits on each memo, and a change takes effect the moment it is chosen.
Key Capabilities
- Public — anyone can view the memo; it appears in the 📝Memo Feed and 📝Search, and search engines may index it. See 📝Public Memo.
- Unlisted — anyone with the link can view; the memo appears in your feed and search on MythOS but is marked noindex for search engines. See 📝Unlisted Memo.
- Hidden — anyone with the link can view, but the memo stays out of the memo feed and search for everyone except invited collaborators. See 📝Hidden Memo.
- Private — only you and invited collaborators can open it; a signed-in visitor with the link can 📝Request Access. See 📝Private Memo.
- Noindex on everything but public — unlisted, hidden, and private pages tell crawlers not to index or follow.

- Choose Public, Unlisted, Hidden, or Private from the visibility picker; the change saves immediately.
- For unlisted or hidden memos, share the link directly; for private memos, invite collaborators or let visitors request access.

FAQ
- Does unlisted mean secret? No. Anyone holding the URL can read it, and it still appears in your own feed and search on MythOS; it is only kept out of search engines. Use hidden to drop it from the feed, or private to require access.
- What is the difference between hidden and unlisted? Both open for anyone with the link. Hidden also disappears from your memo feed and search for everyone but invited collaborators.
- Can someone ask to see a private memo? Yes. A signed-in visitor can request access from the locked page; you approve or decline from notifications, and approval adds them as a collaborator on that memo, which requires a 📝Scholar or 📝Oracle plan.
- When does a public memo reach search engines? It becomes eligible for indexing once your library clears the thresholds described in 📝SEO & AEO; a memo switched away from public sends noindex on the next crawl.
- Does visibility change what collaborators can do? No. Collaborators you have invited can open the memo at every level, including hidden and private.
