Mythos

A Revenue Generation System is the network of processes and systems that deliver the results for customers, and from which all of a business's revenue and its most important metrics flow.

The term is 📝John Zdanowski's. All of a company's 📝Vital Signs, the minimal metrics needed to forecast it, come from its Revenue Generation System, which makes the system the starting point for a forecast. 📝Forecasting Psychology puts it first for that reason: set aside the Big Vision, start with the Revenue Generation System and the Vital Signs, and build the forecast from the data they already produce.

The name frames revenue as the output of a system rather than of individual effort, in keeping with the belief that 📝Systems work better than goals. Improving revenue means improving the processes that deliver results for customers. 📝Automatic Daily Revenue Recognition is one way to read the system's output every day instead of once a month.
