Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly Charts (WMQ) are the charts in 📝Our Framework that show each key business metric at three sampling frequencies (weekly, monthly, and quarterly), so a team can read this week's signal against the longer trend.
WMQ charts draw on the same data as the 📝Integrated Financial Model (IFM): transactions gathered from every system in a company's 📝Systems Diagram into a data warehouse in 📝BigQuery. Each chart plots the same metric at three sampling rates. The weekly view is the fastest feedback loop. The monthly and quarterly views show whether that movement is a trend or noise.
The weekly view reflects the 📝Weekly Philosophy behind 📝Weekly Accounting. A week gives feedback every seven days instead of every 28 to 31, and weeks compare cleanly: every week has seven days and every quarter has thirteen weeks. The longer views are about 📝Signal and Noise. Every data signal is part signal and part noise, and viewing a metric at more than one 📝Sampling Frequency helps separate the two.
Together with 📝Monday Morning Metrics (MMM), where conditional formatting tells the story of the business each week and each quarter, WMQ charts give a team a shared visual language for its weekly review in 📝The Process.
