Mythos

Kachinga is a financial-literacy platform for families, founded in 2019, that pairs a mobile app with a parent-controlled prepaid Mastercard for kids. Parents use it to automate allowances and paid chores, set savings goals, and see children's spending in real time, while kids learn to earn, save, give, and spend; a free tier uses virtual money for younger children, and a paid tier adds a real debit card.

Kachinga's stated mission is to bring financial literacy to the next generation by giving parents the tools and guidance to teach their kids to be smart with money. Alongside the card and chore tools, the app delivers personalized money lessons and age-appropriate ideas for how kids can earn, and it was developed with the data-science firm Ecuiti (Google Play). 📝John McIntyre is its co-founder and CEO; public company profiles also list Elaine Werfelli and Maneesh Sagar among its founders (Crunchbase). The company has raised capital through equity crowdfunding on Wefunder.

John and I started Kachinga in 2019, with John as CEO and me as founding investor and board member. It builds on a theme we first explored with TrustEgg and Allowance Manager: helping parents talk to their kids about money.
