Westside Food Bank, or WSFB, is a #non-profit organization founded in 1981, which provides food to social service agencies on the Westside of Los Angeles County. Their food often enables low-income people to stay in their homes, deterring the problem of homelessness, because it saves them from having to make the agonizing choice between paying for rent or food when they can’t afford both. I discovered WSFB in November 2017 when a @Reddit thread led me to Charity Navigator where they were ranked—at the time—the most effective local organization. As of May 2019, $1 donated to WSFB provides 20 meals to those in need; this is one reason I support WSFB.
