Mythos

The Man Will Burn is a four-episode documentary series, directed by Jehane Noujaim and 📝Vikram Gandhi, that follows the artists, builders, and participants of the global 📝Burning Man cultural movement.

Filmed over five years and produced in alignment with the Burning Man Project's media guidelines, the series examines what it means to take part in Burning Man's connective, creative endeavor — focusing on the impact of participation in Black Rock City at a moment when many are questioning community and belonging. The four episodes stream on HBO Max in the United States on July 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2026, with international distribution in development.

The title extends beyond the literal burning of the effigy: with more than 100 official Burning Man events held worldwide, "the Man will burn" stands for the resilience and persistence of a creative community whose culture transcends the Black Rock City event itself. Burning Man Project CEO Marian Goodell has endorsed the series as a window into the culture's complexity.
