When done well, they're the highest-trust interaction a brand can have on the platform. When done poorly, they become permanent monuments to corporate tone-deafness.
Before the AMA
- Choose the right person. Send someone who actually knows the subject — an engineer, a founder, a product lead. Not a PR person reading approved answers. Reddit communities can tell the difference within three responses
- Choose the right 📝subreddit. r/IAmA is the default, but niche subreddits (r/SaaS, r/personalfinance, r/gaming) often produce better engagement because the audience is pre-qualified. Contact 📝Moderators in advance

- Acknowledge what you can't answer. "I can't share that yet, but here's what I can tell you" is infinitely better than silence or deflection
After the AMA
