NomadList is a crowdsourced database of cities around the world; aggregating over 250,000 data points enabling @Digital Nomads and travelers to plot their next moves. Their travel guides include public ratings, popular options, and costs for mid-term housing, internet service, healthcare, etc. as well as details on weather, language, tipping, lgbt friendliness, etc. The project was one of twelve startups created by @Pieter Levels within his personal challenge to create @12 Startups in 12 Months. [2] NomadList began as a publicly editable Google Sheet, but quickly evolved into an interactive database and social platform. As of 2018, the NomadList @Slack Community—previously branded @HashtagNomads—has 42,000 members worldwide and remains an active dialogue of localized nomad life. NomadList's ranking of Chiang Mai, Thailand as the top destination in 2014—based on the data being digested with its trademarked NomadScore—is largely the reason I traveled there, albeit years later, to systematize knowledge within @Ghost Influence and develop @MythOS.
