Pieter Levels is a product developer, 🏷️#user-experience-designer, and 🏷️#digital-nomad who builds and runs internet startups alone, bootstrapped without outside funding. He gained notoriety through his 📝12 Startups in 12 Months challenge, begun in March 2014, in which he launched one new product each month for a year. His portfolio includes 📝NomadList, now Nomads.com, 📝Remote OK, Hoodmaps, Photo AI and Interior AI. He publishes as levelsio on X.

Nomad List began in 2014 as a publicly editable Google Sheet ranking cities for remote workers and grew into a database and community for the 📝Digital Nomad movement; its member chat started as 📝HashtagNomads, built on a Slack and Typeform sign-up method he published on his blog. Remote OK, a job board for fully remote roles, came out of the same run of work. Photo AI generates AI photos of people, Interior AI redesigns photos of rooms, and in September 2020 he launched IdeasAI. An alumnus of Rotterdam School of Management, he started the investment fund levels.vc in October 2025 and reports passing $10 million a year in revenue and investment gains while running his products solo.
