Mythos

Anthropic Labs is 📝Anthropic's internal incubator for experimental AI products, co-led by 📝Mike Krieger (Instagram co-founder) and 📝Ben Mann (Anthropic co-founder).

Labs was created in mid-2024 as a dedicated research and development unit focused on rapidly experimenting with and incubating products at the frontier of Claude's capabilities. In January 2026, Anthropic restructured its leadership to expand Labs: Krieger transitioned from Chief Product Officer to co-lead the unit alongside Mann, while 📝Ami Vora stepped up as CPO. The unit reports directly to President 📝Daniela Amodei.

Labs is doubling headcount in H1 2026. Its mandate is to build things with Claude, not the core Claude platform itself — functioning as an internal venture studio for frontier product bets. Early signals of its output include Claude Design, which prompted Krieger to leave Figma's board in April 2026 after reports it would compete with Figma's product. This indicates Labs ships real products that enter existing markets, not just internal prototypes.

The expansion comes as Anthropic prepares for a potential IPO and its annualized revenue surpasses $30 billion. Labs sits at the intersection of Anthropic's research capabilities and its commercial ambitions — a vehicle for turning model advances into differentiated product experiences before competitors can replicate them.
