Mike Krieger is the co-lead of 📝Anthropic Labs, the company's internal incubator for experimental AI products built on Claude's frontier capabilities.
Krieger co-founded 📝Instagram in 2010 alongside Kevin Systrom, serving as CTO through the platform's acquisition by Meta and growth to over a billion users. After departing Meta in 2018, he co-founded Artifact, a news discovery app that he later sold to Yahoo in 2024. He joined Anthropic as Chief Product Officer, overseeing the development of consumer and developer-facing Claude experiences, before transitioning in January 2026 to co-lead Labs alongside Anthropic co-founder Ben Mann.
Labs was created in mid-2024 and is doubling headcount in H1 2026. Its mandate is to rapidly experiment with and incubate frontier products — things built with Claude, not the core Claude platform itself. Krieger reports directly to Anthropic President Daniela Amodei. His background as a founder who built, scaled, and exited a generational product gives him a distinct lens within Anthropic's leadership: he understands what it means to create something from zero, and what it means when a larger entity's actions affect that creation.
