As a "libertarian utopia," its primary goal is to foster rapid innovation and economic growth by allowing corporations to operate with minimal federal regulation and without the need for traditional governmental approval. The project has received significant financial backing from Peter Thiel, fitting into his broader strategy of developing Freedom Cities as an "exit" from the constraints of representative democracy. Prospera is designed to serve as a hub for advanced research, including the biotechnology and life-extension projects central to the Transhumanism movement. While promoted as a way to reignite imagination and frontier-style development, it remains a controversial example of private interests establishing sovereign-like control over geographical territories
