Objective
Freedom cities are proposed urban developments designed to operate as low-tax, self-governing zones free from many federal and local regulations. This concept, long championed by Peter Thiel, envisions a "libertarian utopia" where corporations can conduct research and innovation without governmental approval. While Thiel initially explored exit strategies like seasteading and a bunker in New Zealand, his focus has shifted to building these frontiers within the United States. One such existing model is Prospera in Honduras, which received funding from Thiel to test these deregulated principles. The vision of freedom cities has gained mainstream political momentum, particularly under the second Trump administration, which has advocated for opening new "freedom cities" to reignite American imagination. These initiatives are often promoted as a way to circumvent the democratic systems that members of The PayPal Mafia find hostile to radical change.
