Bambu Lab R1 is a 55-watt CO₂ 🏷️#laser-cutter and engraver from 📝Bambu Lab, launched in September 2026 as the company's first standalone machine that is not a 3D printer.
The R1 works a 600 × 300 mm bed at up to 1,000 mm/s with 20,000 mm/s² acceleration. Bambu rates it to cut 18 mm black walnut plywood and 20 mm acrylic, and it processes wood, acrylic, leather, fabric, and paper while engraving glass and stone. A built-in air-assist pump, a dual-camera and dual-encoder vision system, and automatic mirror alignment handle positioning and calibration, with stated accuracy under 0.2 mm, or under 0.1 mm across 600 mm with the vision encoder. Jobs run through Bambu Suite on Windows and macOS.
In its sealed standard form the R1 is a Class 1 laser product. Fitting the $389 riser base or the $499 conveyor — which extends the working length to 3,000 mm for pass-through material — moves it to Class 4. Bambu sells a matching E1 Pro fume purifier for $899.
Pre-orders opened on September 22, 2026 at $2,499 in the United States and €2,499 in the European Union, with first shipments slated for October and later orders estimated for early November. The R1 goes beyond the optional laser modules Bambu offers on its H2D printers, carrying the automation-first approach the company brought to consumer 📝3D Printing into laser fabrication.
