Mythos

Dominance is often misunderstood as control.

In reality, conscious Dominance is less about controlling another person and more about taking responsibility for an experience.

A Dominant intentionally holds structure, direction, presence, and leadership within an agreed-upon container. They make decisions, create safety, establish boundaries, and guide the unfolding of a shared experience.

At its healthiest, Dominance is not exercised through force, coercion, or authority alone. It emerges through trust, attunement, responsibility, and care.

A skilled Dominant pays attention not only to what is happening externally, but also to what is unfolding within the other person. They lead while remaining responsive. They hold power while remaining accountable.

Beyond BDSM, Dominance can be understood as a human capacity for conscious leadership.

The willingness to take initiative.

To provide direction.

To create clarity amidst uncertainty.

To hold others while remaining grounded in oneself.

In this way, Dominance is not about power over.

It is about stewardship of power.
