Connecting a Domain is how you point a domain you own at your 📝Custom Domains library — you add the domain in settings, create one DNS record, and MythOS verifies it and provisions SSL automatically. It exists because standing up a branded web presence normally means a host, a build step, and certificate management; here it's a single CNAME and a click. It's for Oracle creators who want their library to live at their own address with no infrastructure to run.
Key Capabilities
- CNAME setup — point your domain at the target shown in settings with one DNS record
- Verify DNS — click to confirm the record resolved; the domain moves to Active
- Automatic SSL — certificates are provisioned for you, with nothing to install
- Status lifecycle — Pending DNS, Active, Suspended, and Failed states track each domain
- Root or subdomain — connect an apex domain or a subdomain like
library.yourdomain.com
Getting Started
- Open Settings → Publishing → Domains on the 📝Oracle plan
- Enter the domain you own — an apex like
yourdomain.comor a subdomain - Add a CNAME record at your DNS provider pointing to the target shown in settings
- Click Verify DNS — once the record resolves, the domain goes Active and SSL is provisioned
- Visit your domain; your library homepage now loads at the root
FAQ
- Can I use my root domain? Yes. If your DNS provider won't allow a CNAME on the apex, use a subdomain or a provider with CNAME flattening — Cloudflare does this automatically.
- How long does verification take? DNS propagation is usually minutes but can take up to 48 hours; click Verify DNS again any time to re-check.
- Do I have to manage SSL certificates? No — certificates are provisioned and renewed automatically once the domain is Active.
- Which domains can't I connect? MythOS's own hosts and a short list of reserved names are blocked, and any domain can be connected to only one library.
- What if my DNS record is wrong? The domain stays in Pending DNS, or shows Failed, until a matching record is found; fix the record and Verify again.
