Mythos

The Shelburne Museum is a museum of art, design, and Americana in Shelburne, Vermont. It holds one of the most diverse collections of 🏷️#museum holdings in the United States — folk art, quilts, decoys, carriages, and historic structures spread across a village-like campus near Lake Champlain.

Founded in 1947 by pioneering folk-art collector Electra Havemeyer Webb, the museum presents more than 150,000 works across nearly 40 exhibition buildings, many of them historic structures relocated to the grounds. Early in his career, Justin Lane worked at the museum as an educator, teaching an alternative learning curriculum in mathematics and communication technology from August to October 2011.

One of my first real teaching jobs was at Shelburne, walking kids through math and comms tech in a place that felt more like a living village than a museum. Hard to imagine a stranger, better classroom to start out in.
