Mythos

The International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR) is the leading international scholarly body for the academic study of religion. Structured as a federation of national and regional associations and societies, it is an 🏷️#association that unites scholars worldwide around the historical, social, and comparative study of religion across cultures and eras.

The IAHR serves as the preeminent international forum for the critical, analytical, and cross-cultural study of religion, past and present. It organizes world congresses every five years, sponsors regional and special conferences, and deliberately hosts its gatherings in as many parts of the world as possible to broaden participation. Justin Lane was involved with the IAHR in a social-media and communications capacity, supporting and designing the organization's online presence during the early 2010s.

I handled the IAHR's social-media and communications presence for several years — translating a venerable scholarly federation into a voice that could reach a digital audience. It was an early lesson in how the academic study of religion meets modern communication, which still informs how I think about culture and computation today.
