Mythos

While talking with 📝Joshua Pellicer and me, 📝Bryan Doreian appreciated how Joshua had no experience in the financial realm and now manages a quant fund without any formal training.

Bryan conveyed how he had "stumbled into" learning about donor-advised funds (DAFs) without any formal financial or philanthropic training before seeing their value and building SDG Impact Fund.

He conveyed how he uses an example from The Lego Movie with his kids. In one of the scenes, they go up into Emmet's head, and they are expecting him, as a Master Builder, to have all these great ideas. But when they get in his head, it's just empty, and all the characters are freaking out.

The moral of the story is that because he had nothing in his head, there was no boundary to what he could build. There were no restrictions on it from formal academic training or institutional indoctrination into the traditional Wall Street infrastructure. So I look at it like this: when you make that statement, okay, you haven't had the formal academic training, but because you didn't have that, you came into it completely unbridled, as a potential reality of this raw tool.
