Pete Higgins is a technology executive and ๐ท๏ธ#investor, and a founding partner of Second Avenue Partners, a Seattle firm that provides management, strategy, and capital to early-stage companies. He spent 16 years at Microsoft, where he served in the Office of the President, reporting to CEO Bill Gates.
Higgins joined Microsoft in 1983. He ran the Analysis Business Unit from 1988 to 1992, the period in which Excel became the market leader, then led Desktop Applications, including Microsoft Office, as senior vice president from 1992 to 1995. He was group vice president of Applications and Content from 1995 to 1996, and of the Interactive Media Group, which covered Microsoft's online, consumer software, and hardware businesses, from 1996 until he stepped down from that post in 1998. His board service has included chairing ๐Market Leader, Insitu, and Modumetal, and his Second Avenue biography lists him as chairman of Seeq. He is a trustee of the Brookings Institution, a former Stanford University trustee, and holds undergraduate and MBA degrees from Stanford.
