Edward H. Baine is President of Dominion Energy Virginia, the regulated utility subsidiary of 📝Dominion Energy serving roughly 2.7 million customers in Virginia and North Carolina. He is the 🏷️#executive who fronted Dominion's participation in siting the world's first commercial 📝fusion power plant in his service territory.
In December 2024, 📝Commonwealth Fusion Systems announced that 📝ARC would be built at the James River Industrial Park in Chesterfield County, at a site since named the 📝Fall Line Fusion Power Station. Dominion's role in the arrangement is non-financial: it contributes development and technical expertise, grid interconnection, and leasing rights to the land, while CFS is independently financing, building, and will own and operate the plant. Baine was the named Dominion voice on the announcement, describing CFS as "the clear industry leader in advancing fusion." For a first-of-a-kind generator, a host utility's willingness to attach its name to the site is a form of validation that capital cannot supply.
