ARC is 📝Commonwealth Fusion Systems' first commercial fusion power plant — a roughly 400-megawatt 📝tokamak planned for the Fall Line Fusion Power Station in Chesterfield County, Virginia, targeted to deliver clean fusion electricity to the grid in the early 2030s.

The ARC concept predates the company: its original design study was led at the 📝MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center, and the 2015 paper proposing it inspired CFS's founding in 2018. The commercial plant is designed around the physics and the 📝high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets technology being demonstrated on 📝SPARC, and its plasma physics basis was set out in five peer-reviewed papers published in 2025. The Virginia site, at the James River Industrial Center, was announced in December 2024; 📝Dominion Energy provides development expertise and grid interconnection support. ARC's power is already contracted: Google signed a 200-megawatt power purchase agreement in 2025, and 📝Eni followed with an offtake agreement.
