Mythos

Guarding is the reflex tightening that happens when pressure or pace exceeds what the body accepts.

The muscle pushes back, the breath stops, or the person flinches. In 📝Deep Tissue Massage that response is information: the dose is already too high. It is not a diagnosis of anxiety, not a test of toughness, and not a cue to push through. 📝Bracing is the standing habit of holding tight; guarding is the in-session reflex to this pass.

Clients often apologize for tightening. The practitioner drops depth or speed and warms the surface again. Repeated guarding on the same spot means the layer is not ready.

Numbness, panic, or sharp pain is a stop.
