**Married in the Metaverse **refers to weddings conducted in virtual environments during the @COVID-19 pandemic, with particular reference to the ceremony of @Brian Swichkow and @Chantle Edillor, hosted as a @Hybrid Event in @Topia and @Topanga, CA. Topia, co-founded by @Daniel Liebeskind, enables immersive, spatially aware gatherings where participants can move through digital spaces and interact in ways that mimic real-life proximity. The wedding became a notable illustration of how platforms like Topia offered alternatives to physical gatherings when traditional ceremonies were limited by public health restrictions, while also reflecting broader trends in the evolution of digital interactivity and the creator economy. On @11.11.2020, I got "married in the metaverse" in a virtual world that was roughly equivalent to 250,000 square feet. We designed the world as a clock with twelve o-clock being the beginning of our relationship and each subsequent hour being a significant moment of connection that led to eleven o-clock where our ceremony took place at on 11/11. Topia, a platform founded by one @Citizen of @One Inc and supported by many in our community including @John Zdanowski, @Sam Kaplan, and myself. Our wedding later cited by @Bonfire Ventures as "one of the coolest use cases" and a substantial influence in their decision to invest in the company.
