Mythos

Spaces, owned by Regis, provides shared and dedicated workspaces for startups, entrepreneurs, freelancers, small businesses and large enterprises. Amenities include barista coffee, wifi, etc. [1] In September 2018, I got a 'hot desk' membership to Spaces in Santa Monica. It was $350 per month which, at the time, corresponded to the amount of coffee I was purchasing to work from cafes. In the first few months, I spent 4-6 hours in the space, 6-7 days a week. DON'T WORK HERE Quickly, the free coffee was made no longer free (a manger had unlocked the machine to hit his sales quota) and the "new staff" started to become the "former staff." I stopped feeling welcomed or comfortable in the space. In November, as my home workspace began to take shape, I found myself only going to Spaces to park @Jessica for @Sweat Yoga and to host @Symposium. In the six months we hosted our fortnightly Symposium there, we received none of the support that had been promised. The staff turnover was so frequent that it often seemed they were unaware the gathering event existed. We're great at @Leaving No Trace, but often had 50+ people in the space. I'm grateful we were able to utilize their unused space as such low cost for as long as we did. I am ever more appreciative that our @O+Cross Campus partnership emerged when it did. At present, I can only recommend Spaces to an introverted freelancer to get out of the house (I met one doing a trial workday prior to our last Symposium). They have 2-stars on Yelp with reviews that resonate. I canceled my membership in September 2019, as of February 2020 I have not received my deposit back.
