Mythos

AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit and the world's largest provider of HIV/AIDS medical care, serving more than 3 million patients across roughly 50 countries.

AHF began as a grassroots effort by a small group of friends responding to the AIDS crisis and has grown into a global health organization operating across six continents. Its direct-care arm includes AHF Healthcare Centers for specialty HIV/AIDS treatment, AHF Wellness Centers offering free HIV and STD testing, a network of pharmacies, and prevention programs, alongside the Healthy Housing Foundation for affordable housing and Food for Health for food security — services the organization frames as inseparable from HIV care outcomes.

Beyond direct care, AHF is an outspoken advocacy organization, campaigning for lower prescription drug prices, expanded affordable housing, and equal healthcare access, and engaging in grassroots activism and policy work at local, state, and federal levels — a more overtly political posture than peer reproductive- and sexual-health nonprofits such as 📝Planned Parenthood. The foundation's advocacy work earned it The King Center's MLK Jr. Social Justice Award in January 2025 and a spot on Forbes' 2026 list of America's Best Large Employers.
