Mythos

OpenCode is an 🏷️#open-source 📝artificial intelligence coding agent built for the terminal. Created by the team behind SST (Serverless Stack) and Anomaly — including Dax Raad, Jay, Frank, and Adam Elmore — it launched in June 2025 and reached 95K+ 📝GitHub stars and 650,000 monthly active users within five months, making it one of the fastest adoption curves in developer tooling.

  • Architecture — Go-based client/server TUI built with Bubble Tea. Persistent background server survives terminal disconnects and SSH drops. Session data stored in local SQLite
  • Model support — 75+ models from 📝Anthropic, 📝OpenAI, 📝Gemini, 📝AWS Bedrock, Groq, and local models via 📝Ollama. No provider lock-in
  • Key capabilities — LSP integration across 10+ languages, multi-session management, Vim-like keyboard-driven interface, file change tracking, and external editor support. Supports 📝MCP for tool integration
  • Privacy-first — no code or context data leaves your infrastructure. Several Fortune 500 companies run internal forks for secure development
  • Monetization — OpenCode Zen is their AI gateway offering curated, benchmarked models starting at $20 in credits. OpenCode Black ($200/month) bundles access to premium models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and open-weight providers

OpenCode is the primary open-source competitor to 📝Claude Code, 📝GitHub Copilot, and 📝Cursor. Its provider independence and transparency make it the natural choice for developers who want full control over their 📝Agentic Augmentation stack — though for our workflow, Claude Code's deep integration with Anthropic's models and 📝Model Context Protocol (MCP) ecosystem presently remains the better fit for us.
