Mythos

UnrollMe is an email-management tool made by Slice Technologies that scans a user's inbox to extract a list of email subscriptions, letting them unsubscribe from unwanted senders or "Roll Up" the rest into a single daily summary email.

The service is free to use, but that model is funded by Slice's separate business of scanning inbox metadata for e-commerce receipts and packaging the anonymized purchase data into market research products — a practice that drew an FTC settlement and a 2017 class-action lawsuit after it emerged Slice had sold anonymized Unroll.me user data to 📝Uber for competitive intelligence on Lyft, without adequately disclosing the practice to users.

I've used UnrollMe for years, since it first launched on 📝Product Hunt, and appreciate how it lets me track email campaigns from collaborators, colleagues, and competitors without cluttering my inbox. I've got about 120 subscriptions in my Roll Up, which gets two minutes of attention a day.

Key Features

  • Subscription discovery — scans inbox metadata to surface every mailing list a user is subscribed to.
  • Bulk unsubscribe — remove unwanted subscriptions in a single action.
  • Roll Up digest — consolidates chosen subscriptions into one daily summary email.
