Yo San University is a Los Angeles graduate university of 📝Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), founded in 1989, that trains practitioners in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine through a lineage-based curriculum.
The university was founded by brothers Dr. Daoshing Ni and Dr. Mao Shing Ni and named for their grandfather Yo San Ni, a Taoist healer, drawing on the Ni family's reported 38-generation lineage of Chinese medicine. Its first class of eight students began in 1989, and the program earned accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in the early 1990s. Yo San offers a master's degree in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine alongside doctoral programs—including an advanced-practice doctorate (DAOM) with specializations such as reproductive medicine, longevity, and healthy aging—and runs a community teaching clinic on the Westside of Los Angeles.
