Idealization and Devaluation are two phases in a common relational cycle in @Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) relationships. During idealization, the individual with BPD places their loved one on a pedestal, viewing them as perfect or the solution to their problems. This is often followed by devaluation, where the loved one is suddenly seen as flawed, disappointing, or harmful. Recognizing this cycle can help in preparing for and managing these shifts.
