Making balances visible to the whole community was a deliberate inversion of how wealth usually works. It drew on 📝Potlatch societies, where "status in such a community is based on how much you give, not how much you own." In a conventional economy a balance sheet is private and signals what one has accumulated; in One Balance, a high standing signaled how much a member had contributed. The ledger turned reputation into something earned in the open.
