Ted Lasso is an American sports comedy-drama 🏷️#television-series on 📝Apple TV about an American college football coach hired to manage an English football club.

Developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, the series premiered in August 2020 with Sudeikis in the title role. Ted is hired to coach AFC Richmond by an owner who hopes he will fail and spite her ex-husband, and he wins over a skeptical club with relentless optimism while learning the sport on the job, with his laconic assistant Coach Beard, played by Hunt, at his side.

The show drew wide acclaim for its writing, performances, and uplifting tone. Its first season became the most Emmy-nominated freshman comedy in history, and it won Outstanding Comedy Series in 2021 and 2022, with acting wins for Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein. Commentators have also written about a Ted Lasso effect on how audiences talk about mental health.

The third season, released in 2023, was framed as the end of the story, but Apple renewed the series in March 2025. Season four premiered on August 5, 2026, running ten weekly episodes through October 7, and follows Ted back to Richmond to coach the club's second-division women's team.
