Solid is a decentralized identity layer for the World Wide Web designed by Tim Berners-Lee and the W3C to fundamentally rework our relationship with our data on the Web. Once the Solid ecosystem is fully actualized, every Web user will own and control a Pod of data accessible via a standardized Linked Data RDF API. Users will be able to grant Solid-compatible applications access to data stored in their Pod. Solid-based applications will not need to maintain custom datastores, as the data their users bring and create will remain in their Pods.
