Mythos

Deel is a global HR and compliance platform offering hiring, payroll, and workforce management services across over 150 countries that was Dounded in 2019 and backed by top-tier venture capital firms. Deel provides Employer of Record (EOR) and @Professional Employer Organization (PEO) services. Once celebrated as an innovator in remote hiring, Deel is now facing mounting legal, ethical, and operational scrutiny. As of 2025, the company has been implicated in multiple lawsuits alleging corporate espionage, racketeering, and data theft against competitor @Rippling. Evidence presented in these cases includes crypto transactions, Slack logs, and alleged cover-up attempts involving Deel executives — including CEO Alex Bouaziz and Chairman Philippe Bouaziz. The legal filings accuse Deel of cultivating a mole inside Rippling to steal internal business intelligence, manipulate sales opportunities, and poach staff — acts described as part of a coordinated enterprise spanning multiple competitors. Deel denies wrongdoing and has filed a countersuit, alleging that Rippling engaged in similar tactics. These ongoing legal entanglements have raised broad concerns about vendor integrity, data governance, and trustworthiness, especially for clients relying on Deel to manage sensitive financial and employment data. During @One Inc's onboarding, Deel’s representatives explicitly instructed our team to transfer prior payroll data from @Gusto, assuring that Deel would handle year-end tax documentation for the full 2024 fiscal year. Acting in good faith, we followed those directions. Months later, Deel reversed its position, claiming it “does not carry forward YTDs for PEO clients.” This reversal left us with incomplete W-2s, payroll mismatches, and IRS exposure — a direct result of Deel’s miscommunication and operational negligence. This issue remains open and unresolved as of October 2025. Furthermore, when we canceled our PEO contract with Deel in December 2024, off-boarding was four months of ignored follow-ups, missed internal commitments, and an eventual “full concession” that covertly stripped us of an unrelated contractor discount—raising our fees by 63% without warning. This wasn’t just frustrating, it felt retaliatory. While Deel may have stayed within the letter of its contracts, the spirit of @trust eroded with every evasive reply. This unfortunately not as a one-off misstep, but as a pattern—one that echoes louder now against the backdrop of their public scandals. I strongly recommend against working with Deel in any capacity.
