Mythos

Christian Rudder is an American 🏷️#author and data scientist, one of four co-founders of the online dating service 📝OkCupid and the author of 📝Dataclysm (2014), a popular-science look at human behavior through the lens of large-scale online data.

Rudder co-founded OkCupid in 2004 with three Harvard classmates — Sam Yagan, Max Krohn, and Chris Coyne — building the site around algorithmic matchmaking and survey-style user questions. He authored the long-running OkTrends blog, which translated patterns in the platform's data into widely circulated essays on race, attraction, age, and self-presentation; that body of work became the seed for Dataclysm. OkCupid was acquired by IAC's Match Group in 2011, and Rudder served as President of OkCupid in subsequent years while continuing to write and speak on data-driven social science.
