Objective
StonerMovies.net was a #niche-site designed to attract search engine traffic by curating content aligned with the keyword "stoner movies." Rather than focusing solely on depictions of #cannabis use, the site featured films selected for their resonance with the mental and emotional states associated with being high—movies that were surreal, introspective, or cognitively stimulating. The site published lists and articles as content; embedding trailers, descriptions, and links to major streaming services—monetizing through affiliate relationships. It gained early traction in search rankings, reflecting its alignment with user intent. The project was inspired by Pat Flynn's Niche Site Duel. While the website has long been shut down and redirected here, you can still browse the movies and view the archived site.
Subjective
StonerMovies.net was my first foray into building a niche site—and more importantly, my first proof that I could conjure attention from the void and convert it into value. I kept it simple: movie roundups like “10 Best Stoner Movies,” each with a trailer, a short blurb, and affiliate links to stream them on Apple, Netflix, or Amazon. I wasn’t trying to build a brand, I was experimenting with influence—and it worked. Watching the site rank on Google within three days felt like uncovering a cheat code to the internet, a moment I later reflected on in What Marijuana Taught Me About Internet Marketing.
